2021 Ford Explorer Review
The Ford Explorer is one versatile SUV. It’s both tough and family friendly. Is it the right SUV for your and your family, though? Town and Country Ford finds out.
We’ve put this 2021 Ford Explorer review together to show drivers in Port Arthur and Nederland, TX what this model has to offer.
Ford Explorer Performance
With lots of power under the hood and good fuel economy, the 2021 Ford Explorer is a great choice for family road trips and running errands. It offers several exciting engines to choose from, starting with a 2.3L 4-cylinder that gets up to 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.
If you’re looking for a sporty drive, a pair of 3.0L V6 engines are also available. The Platinum trim’s V6 delivers 365 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. The Explorer ST can fly down the highway with a V6 that offers up to 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque.
If you’re a fan of V6 engines, but you’d like to enjoy an efficient drive, you’ll love the Explorer’s hybrid powertrain. With an electric motor working alongside the V6, it gets an EPA-estimated 27 city/29 highway MPG.
Ford Explorer Interior
The 2021 Ford Explorer features seating for seven over three comfortable rows of seats. Cloth seats come standard, but leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are also available.
You’ll find plenty of ways to get comfortable with a power-adjustable driver’s seat and 43 inches of legroom. There’s space for everyone to kick back and relax, though. The second row gives your passengers 39 inches of legroom, while the back seats feature 32.2 inches of legroom.
You’ll also be able to pack everything you need. The trunk features 18.2 cubic feet of cargo room, but folding seats make it easy to load more. A hands-free tailgate is available to help you start packing when you’ve got your hands full, while power-folding third-row seats can give you extra space with just the push of a button. With both the second and third rows down, the Ford Explorer features 87.8 cubic feet of cargo room.
Ford Explorer Features
The Ford Explorer also includes technology that’ll make your drive more fun and give you peace of mind. The dashboard features a large touchscreen that comes with lots of smartphone compatibility. Just connect your phone with Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™, and you’ll be able to stream music and use your apps while you drive. A Wi-Fi hotspot also comes standard to help you stay connected.
This screen can also give you a better look at what’s behind you when you’re backing up. The rearview camera is just one of many driver-assistive features that come standard. Ford Co-Pilot360 can help prevent accidents with the following safety features:
- Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking
- Blind-Spot Information System (BLIS®) with Cross-Traffic Alert
- Lane-Keeping System
